Bolton’s Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service, along with its partner organisations Bolton Hospice, Bolton People affected by Cancer Group, Bolton NHS CCG, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Bolton Council, have been shortlisted for a prestigious Macmillan Professionals Excellence Award.

The team are finalists in the integration excellence category, which rewards individuals and teams who have developed integrated services which have greatly improved the experiences of people affected by cancer.

Sue Summerfield, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service Manager in Bolton, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for this award. Lots of hard work and dedication has been put in by all involved.”Based at Royal Bolton Hospital, Bolton One and Giles House at Bolton Hospice, the team has been through a rigorous assessment process by a panel of judges, including Macmillan Cancer Support, charity trustees and people affected by cancer.

And, by working together, we now have a high quality comprehensive and integrated service that is having a positive impact on people affected by cancer right across Bolton - providing emotional, practical, and financial advice and support.”

Winners will be announced at the Macmillan Professionals Awards ceremony on November 8.
